Aura Brand Stories: Confidence That Goes Beyond the Game

Confidence shouldn’t end when the game does.

Female athletes spend countless hours learning to trust themselves, on the field, on the court, in the gym and everywhere in between. But as they get older, their worlds get bigger too. They’re driving themselves to practice. Walking across college campuses. Traveling for tournaments. Running on their own. Leaving the gym after dark. Heading back to their cars after work, school or an event.

As a mom, a woman, and someone who built Aura around helping women feel confident and supported, I’ve always believed that what we offer girls and women should extend beyond apparel and equipment.

That’s one of the reasons She’s Birdie earned a place at Aura.

The Story Behind She’s Birdie

Amy Ferber and Ali Ferber Peters

She’s Birdie was created by sisters Amy Ferber and Ali Ferber Peters with a mission centered on empowering women in their everyday lives. Their idea was simple but meaningful: create a personal safety tool designed specifically with women in mind.

The result was Birdie, a small, colorful personal safety alarm that can be carried on a keychain, purse or backpack. When activated, it produces a loud siren and flashing light designed to attract attention. It doesn’t look intimidating or tactical. It looks like something you’d actually want to carry. And I think that matters.

Small Device. Bigger Mission.

What drew me to She’s Birdie wasn’t simply the product. It was the thinking behind it. Their goal isn’t to tell women to be afraid of the world around them. It’s to give women another tool that may help them feel more prepared and empowered as they move through it. That distinction is important to me. Aura has always been about confidence, not fear.

Birdie is designed to be easy to carry and simple to activate. Current Birdie models include a loud siren and flashing strobe, while newer versions have continued to add features such as flashlights, rechargeable batteries and other safety-focused functionality. But the bigger idea is even simpler: You deserve to feel confident wherever you’re going.

Why This Matters for Female Athletes

When we talk about supporting female athletes, most of the conversation naturally focuses on what happens during the game.

The right shoes.

The right sports bra.

The right equipment.

The right training.

Those things matter.

But athletes have lives outside their sport, too. A high school athlete may be walking out of practice after dark. A college athlete may be crossing campus alone. A runner may be getting her miles in early in the morning. A young woman may be traveling with her team, starting her first job, heading to the gym or living away from home for the first time.

She’s Birdie specifically talks about using its products in everyday situations such as running, crossing campus and leaving work at night. Those are exactly the kinds of moments that made me see how naturally this brand fits within Aura. Because empowering female athletes shouldn’t stop at the sideline.

Why I Chose She’s Birdie for Aura

When I choose products for Aura, I’m always asking myself more than: Will this sell?

I want to know:

Does it solve a real problem?

Does it support girls and women?

Does it fit the life of the female athlete we’re trying to serve?

Does the brand behind it stand for something?

She’s Birdie checked those boxes for me. I especially love that it’s something athletes can incorporate into their everyday routines without changing who they are or how they live. Clip it to your keys, put it on your backpack, keep it with your gym bag, take it to college, bring it when you travel. The goal isn’t to make women feel like they should be constantly worried. It’s simply one more way to feel prepared.

More Than a Product

Another reason She’s Birdie stood out to me is that the company has connected its brand to a broader mission around women’s safety. She’s Birdie has supported organizations focused on women’s safety, shelter and health, reinforcing that the company sees its role as bigger than simply selling personal alarms. That kind of purpose matters when I decide what earns a place at Aura. There are thousands of products I could sell. I don’t want Aura to carry thousands of products. I want us to carry products and brands that make sense for her.

The athlete, the daughter, the college student, the runner, the mom, the coach, the woman heading out into the world and building a life of her own.

Confidence That Goes Beyond the Game

One of the things I love most about sports is what they teach girls, confidence, independence, resilience, and trusting themselves. Those lessons don’t disappear when practice ends. They go with her to college, to work, on a run, on a trip and into adulthood. And that’s why She’s Birdie belongs at Aura. Because supporting female athletes isn’t only about helping them perform better.

It’s about helping them feel confident, supported and empowered wherever life takes them.
